Christmas!

I spend the day making preparations for the holidays  - shopping, cleaning, wrapping, cleaning, preparing and my evenings in making cards. The tree is up, the gifts are wrapped and mailed, and the cards are made and sent. Here are the cards that were mailed......

Some are unique and some are variations on a theme. Some you can see the outside and the inside.  I love them all and they were each sent with lots of love. Some were hard to part with - that is funny! Oh Me!

I hope your holidays are filled with love!

Share Handmade Kindness Challenge Week 3 - Kids

I made this card at the request of my daughter. She needed a card for a co-worker that was leaving. She said he enjoys the photos and cards with our two Dachshunds.

One dog is in shadow and the other is standing at the opened gate. The sentiment is a play on words, So Looong, meaning goodbye and referring to the length of the dog.

Inside the card I wanted to put "Happy Tails" but I thought that was just too many dog references!

I hope this card qualifies for the Challenge!

Veteran's Day November 11, 2015

This is an omage to my father,

Warren Alexander Ligget

a Veteran.

He was married and a dad as World War II heated up. He worked/or had worked as an Air-Traffic Controller and he was a pilot.

I believe this photo is in the Control Tower probably in Billlings, Montana

In this photo he is with my mom, Katherine Mary Nave Ligget

This is 1945, in Guam, where he was stationed. (I remember playing with that pith helmet).

He was one of the lucky ones, he got to come home and live a full life with lots of friends, a devoted wife and four loving daughters. He seldom talked about the war but when he did it was with tears in his eyes.

I miss you daddy.

Thank you for your service.

Share Handmade Kindness Challenge Week 2: Community

N A M A S T E

I love my yoga teacher/massage therapist!
When I saw this stamp from Art Impressions I knew I had to have it!  Then Waffle Flower came out with the Lotus Flower. Then I found the word "namaste" in a Unity set. So there you have it - I bought three stamp sets for one card! So I guess I supported our crafting community as well as making a little "thank you" for my wonderful teacher!!!!

Spooky - The Last But Not Least

This card is for my youngest daughter. She loves our Dachshund sisters as much as I do. She accepts their quirky behavior. They are cute and funny and snuggly and happy. But they are also fierce hunters. This is a trait that has not been bred out of them. Their name, Dachshund, means badger hound in German. They would go down the burrows to find badgers (who are very ferocious) and alert the hunters.

We adopted these girls when their mom had to go into an assisted living home and could only bring one dog. She knew it would be very difficult for the sisters to be separated so the woman bravely put them up for adoption.

We have a chainlink fence surrounding the dog yard.  Really secure, if they got out they would follow their nose looking for prey and I would never see them again. In the first 6 months three rabbits squeezed through the gates and lost their lives in rapid fashion! Wow! My cuddly critters are merciless killers!

So this card relates to their hunting abilities!

Kinda funny? or not after that story?????

I used Distress ink for the background, Tim's Crazy Bird, The Rubber Cafe's stamp set "Too Cute To Spook",  Sentiment is a font with puppy prints and printed on vellum, and the tree and bats are from My Favorite Things "Spooky Scene".  The hemp is from my stash.

Thanks for looking!

Inside the card I cut a spider web out of acetate so when you open the card the red-eyed spider pops up and wiggles!

I added "Just a note" from the Altenew Halftone Thanks set, stamped it with VersaMark and embossed it with Embossing Arts Totally Turquoise.
